Project Description

GROUP TOUR – 7 DAY ROUNDTRIP

Iceland is an enchanting island: so strange, so rough, so hot and so welcoming. No other country in the world embraces so many contrasts as Iceland. Experience the rich traditions of the Vikings and the sagas, feel the hot water from the underground, touch a floating iceberg and meet the enormous whales in the Atlantic Ocean.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL REYKJAVIK/ BORGARNES (120 KM)

Arrival by plane in Reykjavik. Pick-up by the tour guide and the coach in the airport. Road to Borgarnes.

DAY 2: BORGARNES/AKUREYRI (310 KM)

Via road to the north along the Grabrok volcano crater. Visit to the beautiful old turf church Vidimyri and the open air museum Glaumbær (entrance not incl.). Continuation to Akureyri, the capital of the north.

DAY 3: AKUREYRI/WHALE SAFARI / MYVATN (150 KM)

We visit the waterfall of the gods “Godafoss”, and continue to Husavik where we go aboard an old vessel which takes us out on high see to watch the big whales! Humpback whales are the most frequent visitors here. Via road to lake Myvatn, surrounded by an unusual landscape of shaped lava formations, sulfur sources and bubbling mud pits. Visit to the dark lava fields Dimmuborgir, composed of various volcanic caves and rock.

DAY 4: MYVATN/SKAFTAFELL (490 KM)

Via road to the enormous Dettifoss – Europe’s most powerful waterfall – which is 100 m wide and falls into a 44 m deep gorge. Along the steep hillsides of the Eastfjords to the glacier lake Jökulsarlon. Here we cruise among the small icebergs originating from the enormous Vatnajökul glacier.

DAY 5: SKAFTAFELL/HELLA (235 KM)

We pass the south coast of Iceland with a panoramic view to the glacier and the black volcanic sand beaches. Via Dyrholaey bird cliffs and the impressive waterfall Skogarfoss to the fertile lands of the south with numerous greenhouses.

DAY 6: HELLA/GOLDEN CIRCLE/ REYKJAVIK (195 KM)

Visit to “The Golden Circle”, an area where we find both the beautiful waterfall Gullfossen, the famous geyser Strokkur and the Thingvellir National Park – once the open air seat of the Icelandic Parliament in year 930! We continue into Reykjavik, the Icelandic capital.

DAY 7: BLUE LAGOON/ DEPARTURE FROM REYKJAVIK

In the morning we go on a city tour and experience the Hallgrim Church, the presidential house, the new concert hall Harpa, the unusual building Perlan and the harbor.
